Rust:Punishments/Vocabulary
More actions
This page provides information about the vocabulary that we use when describing punishments.
User
"User" refers to the player that received a punishment.
Suspension
"Suspension" are restrictions placed on users that receive punishments. Suspensions are typically also known as bans.
Suspensions restrict users from connecting or interacting to Protobit services. Suspensions may be permanent, or may automatically expire after a set period of time. Suspensions can sometimes be appealed by the user.
Blacklist
"Blacklist" is a list of users that are permanently restricted from all Protobit services. These can be typically seen as permanent suspensions, but may incur additional restrictions, such as the inability to reach any Protobit services (such as the inability to query our game servers, or visit our websites).
EAC
"EAC", also known as Easy Anti-Cheat, refers to the client-sided kernel-level anti-cheat developed by Epic Games. EAC is used by the Rust client to assist in punishing cheaters, and restricting the use of unauthorized third-party programs.
Unfortunately, Facepunch prevents EAC from loading for Linux users. As such, EAC is not used while you are connected to Protobit. Protobit relies on server-sided checks, extensive logs, active administration, and player reports to help combat cheaters.
Anti-Hack
"Anti-Hack" refers to the server-sided anti-cheat that Facepunch has developed for Rust. Anti-Hack prevents various cheating methods, however is typically known to cause issues for legitimate players. Protobit modifies Anti-Hack and it's detection methods to help prevent new cheating methods, and to prevent legitimate players from having their experience impacted by false positives.
Protobit Operator
"Protobit Operator" (also referred to as "Operator") are Protobit staff members that administrate all Protobit services. They develop new features, fix existing issues, help finance the costs of running Protobit, moderate players, and decide on the future of Protobit.
