This page lists punishments that you may receive while playing on Protobit, including details about punishments that are not issued by Protobit Staff (such as Rust game bans). You may want to read up on the Vocabulary that we use for punishments.

Protobit Punishments

Punishments listed in this section are typically issued by Protobit staff members.

Each punishment is issued after a user has received one or more infractions. The punishment type (either kick, temporary or permanent suspensions, or blacklists) is determined by the highest infraction level, or higher if multiple infractions are issued or if the user has received prior punishments.

Kicks

You may be kicked from Protobit for Level 1 Infractions.

Kicks should be treated as final warnings before harsher punishments are issued.

Temporary Suspensions

You may be temporarily suspended from Protobit for Level 2 Infractions.

Temporary suspensions are typically not appealable, but exceptions may be made in certain scenarios (e.g. the user is innocent).

Permanent Suspensions

You may be permanently suspended from Protobit for Level 3 Infractions.

Permanent suspensions may be appealable depending on the severity of the infraction.

Blacklist

You may be blacklisted from Protobit for Level 4 Infractions.

Blacklisting is a permanent punishment which applies to all accounts of the target user, and can never appealed. This punishment type is reserved for users that cause serious issues on our services.

Blacklisted users may be restricted from reaching Protobit services (such as the ability to query our services, or visit our websites). Associates of blacklisted users may also be at risk of permanent suspensions or blacklists, or may be issued harsher punishments.

Game Kicks / Punishments

These are handed out by automated systems or by Facepunch representatives.

Steam Auth: banned

These are handed out by either EAC or a Facepunch representative, and not by Protobit Staff. Protobit inherits decisions made by Facepunch and will disallow players that are publisher banned to connect.

We cannot modify or remove your publisher ban, and this results in an unappealable permanent suspension from Protobit.

For more information, visit Facepunch Support - EAC Banned.

Steam Auth: gamebanned

You have an active Rust game ban issued by EAC or a Facepunch representative.

For more information, see Steam Auth: banned.

EAC: *** (catch-all)

This section is a catch-all for any disconnection messages that start with "EAC: " (e.g. "EAC: NullClient", "EAC: ClientViolation", etc.).

Ensure that you have no unauthorized applications running. Try restarting your computer, and verifying your game files on Steam.

If you continue to be disconnected with the same reason, contact an Operator, or attempt to Launch Rust without EAC.

Kicked: InsideTerrain Violation Level ***

The server detected your character being inside terrain for too long, and your character was killed. You may need an Operator's assistance in order to recover your loot, however you may reconnect at any time.

You will be permanently suspended if you were found to be cheating or abusing bugs to be inside the terrain.

Kicked: FlyHack Violation Level ***

The server detected your character floating for too long. This is sometimes caused by high latency or desynchronised entities that don't have collision or do not exist on the server. You may reconnect at any time.

You will be permanently suspended if you were found to be cheating or abusing bugs to fly.
