Mods
Protobit contains a wide array of modifications that make playing Rust a more forgiving experience for casual or new players, are nice quality of life additions, or buff underutilized items.
We don't add or modify events or core gameplay.
- Improved Blueprints + Tech Tree
- Using the Tech Tree now costs 2x more, however researching remains the same cost to encourage exploration.
- All Blueprints are now shared between Team UI (Clans are excluded), you will lose any BPs you haven't researched if you leave team, and so will your teammates with your BPs.
- Offline Raid Protection
- TCs will now protect the entire building when all authorized players disconnect to prevent offline raiding, as long as you give it enough playtime via the protection menu. (5 minutes per hour of protection, per authorized player)
- This doesn't prevent or assist in online raids whatsoever.
- You gain 60 minutes (12 hours of protection) of playtime whenever you join the server for the first time per wipe.
- Extended Day
- Daytime has been extended to 105 minutes, while nighttime remains the same at 15 minutes
- This change was made to make players more active without having a /voteday plugin (which is immersion breaking) or removing night.
- /time, /tod | View the exact time right now.
- Daytime has been extended to 105 minutes, while nighttime remains the same at 15 minutes
- Better Elevators
- All elevators can now be extended infinitely (until stability caves in)
- They now have a counter next to the control panel which allows you to manually input the floor you want to go to.
- The elevator will start to pick up speed if it takes too long to go to a floor.
- Sleeping Bag Improvements
- Bags by default automatically name themselves after the grid they were placed in rather than generic names.
- Cooldowns are displayed as a note.
- Improved Backpacks
- Picking up any items while your inventory is full will make them overflow into your backpack if it has space.
- You can easily replace a Small Backpack with a Large Backpack and transfer all item contents by dragging it over the backpack slot
- The crafting menu will pull items from your backpack automatically.
- Always Demolish
- You can always demolish (with refunds) building blocks placed by you or members within Team UI, however you must also be authorized on the TC to do so.
- /remove | You can use the remover tool to remove items like oil refineries or campfires, anything that can be demolished or picked up normally can't be /removed.
- Chat Improvements
- TAB | A local chat has been added for players who do not wish to speak where messages will only be visible to players 200m away.
- IO Improvements
- You can now create complexer circuits with a higher Max Depth
- Industrial Conveyors move items a lot quicker
- Horse Improvements
- Horses will not ragdoll unless it has received an absurd amount of airtime, or it's stuck.
- Players will dismount the horse if it ragdolls, rather than ragdolling alongside the horse.
- Furnace Improvements
- The furnace will automatically stop once it is done smelting all items, to prevent wasting fuel.
- If you start the furnace without an input, it will continue burning wood even if it does receive an input later.
- Spoilage Improvements
- You can now stack items that have wildly different spoilage times, and they will merge their timers in relation to stack size. Compared to being unstackable after 120s of difference and always rounding down.
- Ex. 1 item with 100% spoilage and 10 items with 50% spoilage will turn into 11 items with 54.5% spoilage.
- Wolf Improvements
- Packs may now only have 3 wolves, and wolves will fight each other if they aren't part of the same pack.
- RF Boomboxes
- Boomboxes can be connected to an RF Broadcaster's input, and to an RF Receivers output
- Broadcasters will send their radio configuration to all Receiver boomboxes, including radio station, Cassete audio, and if it's playing or not.
- Receivers will not be able to modify their settings, Cassete, or start/stop status while they are connected to an RF Receiver.
- Join messages and Pop
- /pop, /playerlist | Shows all players that are online.
- Players now send join and quit messages
- No Pickup Damage
- Items won't lose durability if picked up.
- Private Messaging
- /pm {username} {message} | Sends a private message to a player.
- /r {message} | Replies to the last person that you've had a private message interaction with
- Reforestation
- Trees will automatically grow back after a really long time, to prevent the map from looking barren of trees
- Vehicle Stop
- Boats will automatically stop their engine if the driver jumps out or gets ejected, good for runaway boats.
- Helicopters will stop their engine if they hold their throttle down while grounded.
- SAM Site Improvements
- Player and launch site SAM Sites now have their attack radius highlighted on the map so heli drivers can plan their route accordingly
- Player helicopters receive radar lock warnings when in the vicinity of a hostile SAM site, and get radar lock alerts if a missile is heading their way.
- Player SAM Sites that are in Defender Mode, Out of ammo, or are turned off won't be highlighted or cause a radar lock on player helicopters.
- Transport Helicopter Improvements
- The Transport Helicopter now spawns two boxes containing 6 rows of space each, and a barbeque.
- This change was made to give it more use to Solos/Duos to transport loot
- Sign Artist
- /sil, /silt | Allows you to add any image from the internet or text onto a sign.
- Please not that Imgur has a tendency to heavily rate limit server IPs, so refrain from using that image hosting platform if possible.
- You must follow all Protobit Rust Rules while using this feature, failure to do so will restrict your sign usage in general.
- Sort
- You can sort items by either name or category using the button in all containers.
- Night Vision Goggles with headgear and hazmats
