Protobit Punishments

These are handed out by Protobit Staff.

Kicks

This should be treated as a warning before receiving a more serious punishment, the disconnection reason should be read before rejoining Protobit.

You may receive this punishment for the following reasons: (But not limited to)

  • Failure to follow staff instructions.
    • E.g., staff member gives out a warning in PMs, which the user fails to acknowledge and follow.

Sign Restriction

Typically lasts 2 weeks (Biweekly wipe), will escalate to a Temporary Suspension if repeated. This prevents other players from seeing any modifications you do to signs, and prevents the use of Sign Artist.

Unappealable due to the short duration.

You may receive this punishment for the following reasons: (But not limited to)

  • Misuse of in-game mechanics.
    • Creating inappropriate signs (1st offense)

Temporary Suspension (aka Temporary Ban)

Typically lasts 2 weeks (Biweekly wipe), and should be taken as a first and only warning before possibly receiving a Permanent Suspension, prevents you from connecting to Protobit and suspends your access to most Protobit Services temporarily.

Unappealable due to the short duration.

You may receive this punishment for the following reasons: (But not limited to)

  • Chat infractions.
  • Association with a known cheater (1st offense).
  • Underaged.
    • Suspension lasts until the user is of age.
  • Staff impersonation (1st offense).
  • Misuse of in-game mechanics.
    • TC griefing, abusing raid protection, etc.
    • Creating inappropriate signs (2nd offense)

Permanent Suspension (aka Permanent Ban)

Lasts forever, prevents you from ever connecting to Protobit and suspends your access to most Protobit Services.

Appealable after 2 months, some egregious reasons will have their appeals automatically denied.

You may receive this punishment for the following reasons: (But not limited to)

  • Inappropriate conduct.
    • Extremely serious violations of rules regarding behavioural conduct.
  • Prohibited client modifications.
  • Association with a known cheater (2nd offense).
  • Exploiting / bug abuse.
  • Intentional service disruption.
  • Punishment evasion.
  • Staff impersonation (2nd offense).
  • Compromised account.
  • Misuse of in-game mechanics.
    • Creating inappropriate signs (3rd offense)
  • Pending additional review.
    • Temporary reason that is used to disallow a user to continue causing harm to other players. Staff members review all context available to replace this punishment reason with a more appropriate reason.

Blacklist

Unappealable.

You may receive this punishment for the following reasons: (But not limited to)

  • Extreme violation of various rules
  • Being a known associate to a blacklisted player.

Game Kicks / Punishments

These are handed out by automated systems or by Facepunch representatives.

Steam: PublisherBanned

These are handed out by either EAC or a Facepunch representative and not by Protobit Staff. Protobit inherits decisions made by Facepunch and will disallow players that are publisher banned to connect.

We cannot modify or remove your publisher ban, and this results in an unappealable permanent suspension from Protobit.

For more information, visit Facepunch Support - EAC Banned.

EAC: PermanentBanned

You are permanently banned by EAC.

For more information, see Steam: PublisherBanned.

EAC: TemporaryBanned

You are temporarily banned by EAC.

For more information, see Steam: PublisherBanned.

EAC: *** (catch-all)

This section is a catch-all for any other disconnection messages that start with "EAC: " (e.g. "EAC: NullClient", "EAC: ClientViolation", etc.).

Ensure that you have no unauthorized applications running. Try restarting your computer, and verifying your game files on Steam.

If you continue to be disconnected with the same reason, contact an Operator, or attempt to Launch Rust without EAC .

Kicked: InsideTerrain Violation Level 200

The server detected your character being inside terrain for too long, and your character was killed. You may need an Operator's assistance in order to recover your loot, however you may reconnect at any time.

  • You will be permanently suspended if you were found to be cheating or abusing bugs to be inside the terrain.

Kicked: FlyHack Violation Level xxx.xxxx

The server detected your character floating for too long. This is sometimes caused by high latency or desynchronised entities that don't have collision or do not exist on the server. You may reconnect at any time.

  • You will be permanently suspended if you were found to be cheating or abusing bugs to fly.
